KingdomTaurusNews.com – Samsung launched a feature to maintain user privacy, through Maintenance Mode on certain Samsung Galaxy devices.
The Maintenance Mode feature will block access to personal data such as photos, messages, or contacts that can be used when giving the device for repair.
“With Maintenance Mode, we provide extra assurance that Galaxy users can maintain their privacy, even if they hand their phone to someone,” said Seungwon Shin, VP and Head of Security Team at Mobile eXperience Business.
How to enable Samsung Maintenance Mode
- Open Settings
- Select the Battery and device care mode
- Click the Maintenance Mode menu
- Then activate the Maintenance Mode feature
According to a Samsung report, the Maintenance Mode feature was tested on the Galaxy S21 series in Korea in July and then launched in China in September 2022.
This mode is rolling out globally starting October 25, 2022, gradually on select models running One UI 5.
We recommend doing a data backup, so that data is not lost after the Maintenance Mode feature is disabled.
